Fingerprints premieres at the Mill Valley Film Festival

A short documentary, "Fingerprints", will make it's premiere at the prestigious Mill Valley Film Festival this Oct 7th. The film is about the collaboration of two different youth music programs, one in Haiti and one in Alameda, CA. They worked together to record 2 songs and in the process they exchanged video questions and answers, and got the opportunity to learn a little bit about each other's culture. It's an inspiring story.

Dren not only composed the score for the short film, but also arranged/produced and recorded some of the performances for the two songs that the young musicians record and perform. He even appears in it briefly working with some of the singers in the studio. One of the music programs that is featured, Bay Area Music Project, is the same program that he raised money for with 100% of the sales of The String Arcade recording that he released in 2015.

The film was directed by Don Hardy, who had previously directed Theory of Obscurity (about The Residents), The Human Experiment, and Witch Hunt.

You can follow the progress of Fingerprints at their Facebook page.

The 2 songs that the young musicians recorded in the film are available at Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and Google. They were mixed by Dan Rudin.

The film also won an award at the Alameda Film Festival for Best Short Documentary!
