We hear a lot (A LOT) about AR/VR and "metaverse" etc right now, and there haven't been a lot of clear cut examples of what some of us are doing with audio in that space (apart from the great work in VR games). So I thought I'd share some of my AR/VR audio work. The AR work was done exclusively with Spark AR and the VR work was done with Unity (The World Beyond) and Quill (the VR animation work). Enjoy! In the VR animated short, Mescaform Hill: The Missing Five, I used the technique of animating audio files (mono emitters) within the 3D space of the project to create interest, movement and immersion. There are 3 scene examples here, each one is shown first, as a video capture from the VR project, and then a 2nd time, with the speaker icons that represent various moving sounds in each scene, in order to illustrate the movement of the mono emitters in the scene. The mono emitters are represented by the grey speaker icons. Sometimes there are several sounds moving all at the same time. Due to the nature of the animation and camera changes, sometimes sounds were moved behind the user's head, or from left to right (fly buzzing, a rat scurrying etc). Mescaform Hill: The Missing Five was recognized as part of Tribeca's 2022 Film Festival in the New Voices category.
